Notice on Updating Overseas Student Visa Application Requirements

Since August 24 (Wednesday), the Chinese Embassy in Qatar updated the requirements for overseas student visa application.

  1. At this stage, the Embassy only accepts applications from students who come to China for long-term academic education (X1 visa). Applications for short-term study are temporarily not accepted (X2 visa).

  2. All applicants for overseas student visa should have valid Qatar ID.

For freshmen admitted in 2022, the original "Visa Application Form for Study in China" (JW201 or JW202) and the original admission notices of the school are required. For students admitted in 2020 or 2021, besides the documents mentioned above, the Back-to-School approval letters issued by the school is also necessary.

For returning students admitted before or in 2019, the Back-to-School approval letters issued by the school and the expired visa are required.

The Embassy has the right to require applicants to provide other materials including but not limited to Proof of Funds.

  1. Families of the holder of valid X1 visa or study residence permit, limited to the holder’s spouse, parents, children under the age of 18 and parents of the spouse, could apply for S1 or S2 visa to come to China.
