Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the State of Qatar held a reception to celebrate the 99th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army of China on July 22. Chinese Ambassador to the state of Qatar, H.E. Mr. Cao Xiaolin, Maj. Gen. Mohamed Rashid Al-Shahwani, Director of the International Military Cooperation Authority of the Qatari Armed Forces and representative of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs as well as the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces attended the event with other Qatari senior officers, diplomatic envoys and military attachés of various countries in Qatar, and representatives of the Chinese community.

Military Attaché of the Chinese Embassy, Sr. Col. Yang Yongzhi, delivered a speech which focused on elaborating on Xi Jinping thought on strengthening the military, the Global Security Initiative, as well as the important contributions made by the Chinese armed forces in international peacekeeping operations, escort missions in the Gulf of Aden, and humanitarian relief operations. In light of the impact of the U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict on peace and development in the Gulf region, he stressed that China is a long-term and reliable strategic partner of the Gulf countries and has always supported regional countries in enhancing mutual trust through dialogue and realizing common security through cooperation. He expressed China’s readiness to deepen defense exchanges as well as military industry and trade cooperation between China and Qatar on the basis of mutual respect and win-win cooperation, so as to achieve common development.

The reception also featured a photo exhibition and screened a military video as well as footage of the 2025 China’s Victory Day Parade.

Guests spoke highly of the historic achievements and transformative changes in the cause of strengthening the military in the new era under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, and commended the Chinese armed forces on their positive contributions to safeguarding world peace and stability.
